How a dedicated Facile Technolab team built a Laravel and Vue design file module with versioning, approval and locking for a manufacturing SaaS.
The client is PilotLine.app, a SaaS company building software for manufacturing companies. It is a small team of 1-10 people based in Shoreview, Minnesota, and its CEO led the engagement with us.
Their proposed product lets manufacturers securely publish, approve and track the version history of their design files, with more life-cycle management modules planned for the future.
They already had a React prototype. The next step was to turn it into a real product with a proper front end and backend, and to find a team that understood both software and manufacturing.
The client set two goals for the engagement:
The core technical task was to convert the React prototype script to Vue, so the product could support a design file structure for engineering and manufacturing teams.
The client found Facile Technolab through an online search. They chose us for our high ratings, pricing that fit their budget, and good value for the cost.
Taking a prototype to a product is rarely a straight line. A few things shaped this project.
The prototype was written in React, but the product needed a Vue front end. The conversion had to keep the idea behind the prototype while giving the team a codebase to build on.
Design files need to be published, approved and versioned with care. The product had to support a hierarchy of components, where the available actions depend on the type of component.
As with many early-stage products, some details were not settled at the start, and more life-cycle modules were planned for later. The team had to keep moving while leaving room to grow.
With a team of 1–10 people, pricing and value for cost were deciding factors in choosing a development partner.
Facile Technolab provided a cross-functional team: a lead manufacturing ERP consultant, a Laravel developer, a Vue.js front-end developer and a QA engineer.
We delivered a fully working design tree module with hierarchical component management. Depending on the component type, it supports revision, publishing, approval, history, locking and archiving.
We converted the client's React prototype script to Vue, giving the product a front end that supports the design file structure.
We built the backend in Laravel with PostgreSQL as the database, hosted on AWS.
A lead manufacturing ERP consultant worked alongside the developers, and a QA engineer was part of the team. The team fixed bugs along the way and followed the client's technical recommendations.
In founder-to-founder calls, our founder shared the tools and approaches Facile Technolab uses for marketing and customer growth. The client found them helpful.
Domain consulting, backend, front end and QA worked together on one product.
Kept the project moving while requirements were still being refined.
Kept the client informed and replied fast to requests and changes.
Stayed in touch through virtual meetings, email and messaging apps.
The engagement delivered what the client set out to achieve.
When asked what we could have done differently, the client said we did everything well.
The client moved from a prototype to a working core module of its product, so manufacturers can manage design files with approvals, version history and locking in one place.
The platform is set up for the further life-cycle modules the client plans to add. For a small SaaS team, getting engineering, domain knowledge, QA and growth advice from one partner helped the budget go further. The client is open to working with us again.
Facile Technolab worked with the client under a Hire a Team model from January to March 2026.
If you have a working prototype and need a team that can cover domain, backend, front end and QA, we can help you plan the next step.
